Am a writer,
critic, columnist, bibliophile, editor, author etc.,
Areas of Interest/Specialisation:
literature; books, and book/magazine publishing; philosophy/spirituality;
consciousness studies; sports, especially cricket; science
and technology; health; medicine; and, alternative/integrative/mind-body
medicine; psychology, music, meditation etc., etc.,
Have
in-depth knowledge, and hands-on experience, of the book/magazine
publishing industry: right from conception, writing, editing,
printing, distribution, circulation etc.,
Have a holistic medical background --
by way of academic qualification, and training.
Am, in sum, my books, newspapers/magazines,
and the Web.
Highlights: a] was selected
among 10 Best Writers in a pool of 10,000 by a
media group [1996]; b] first Indian [cricket] writer to be
E-published*, and nominated for the First International E-Book
Award [October 2000], Frankfurt.
Have published 100s of articles,
critique, essays, and meditations, on a host of topics, in
several Indian newspapers/magazines, and the Web, including
four books -- 1. on therapeutics [1994]; 2. an
E-anthology* of published essays [2000]; 3. Cricket Boulevard,
a sepia-tinted, critically-acclaimed expansive coffee-table
book, on some of the games greatest players [2004]; 4.
People Who Influenced The World Over The Past 100 Years,
another well-moulded coffee-table book, with noted author
and commentator Peter Murray [2005]; and, 5. an essay on Dvaita
philosophy in Essentials Of
Philosophy And Ethics [2006].
Have edited a host of conventional and
diverse -- fiction and non-fiction -- books, aside
from a brace of journals.
Am a strict vegetarian, non-smoker, and
teetotaller. I admire humility and honesty; not pride and
arrogance.
Am married to Shobha, a practicing physician;
and, my best critic. Have two kids: Jawahar and Sanjiv. We
live in Navi Mumbai, India.
